Özet

Within the past few decades, Turkish government has launched many mega projects as a part of their political agenda. These projects have started wide discussions in Turkey, as many of these projects were not considered environmental-friendly, sustainable, nor necessary, and mostly because they are not responding directly the need for energy and sustainability, but bringing a huge burden on an economy in crisis, and as they underestimate the disaster risk, and especially difficulties arising because of the eroding principle of the rule of law in Turkey, in terms of environmental law and policy, posed a major concern for public.

This article aims to give an outline of Mega Projects in Turkey, particularly in Istanbul, and will try to evaluate the environmental effects, under Turkish Environmental Law and International Law.
