Abstract:
This research is conducted in order to be definitive for defining the evaluations on trainings given on discharge commands given by nurses for cancer patients.Research samples were taken from 169 patients discharge from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine (DEUTF) Muzaffer Müfit Kayhan Oncology Hospital clinic for adult hematology and oncology between July 2007 and Novemver 2007. For data obtaining means, sociodemographical properties were obtained by evaluation forms given by nurses. Data was obtained by interviews done by patients 24-48 hours before their discharges. T test and one-way variance analysis were used for percentage and numerical dispersions and data evaluation.The maximum score that could be taken from the discharde form was 36 and the average was 1.65. It was determined that by taking 0 point, %59 of patients did not receive any information from nurses during their discharge from hospital. There wasn?t determined a considerable difference between the point taken from discharge audit questionnaire and age, gender, education levels, marital status, occupation status, employement status, social security, status of income, diagnosis, time since cancer diagnosis, status of staying in hospital before, lengh of stay, treatment and existence of a person that will help at home.Basen on the conclusions of the study, it can be suggested that discharge education patients and caregivers need for disease, prognozis, treatment and side effects; disease and treatment of social, employement, and sex health affects inculded before dicharge at least 24-48 hours within have to be done.Key words: Cancer Patients, Discharge Training, Information Needs, Nursery
