Abstract:

Mursili II was a king who produced the maximal number of written documents in Hittite cuneiform. He recorded his own era's activities in anneals which had so many details. Besides, we have lots of prayers and treaty texts pertaining to this king. In our study, we deal with a speech disorder that the king who left many written documents had experienced during a part of his life. Because of the fact that until today, man could not date the said documents, we cannot be entirely sure when this illness was troubling him. In other words, before or after his ascending to the throne? If the illness period was in the course of his kingship, in which stage? We deal with all those questions. Our study begins with short explanations of some important facts in Mursili's era. Our study includes the transcription of the document and after that we analysed the document in terms of philology as detail. Studying the paleography of the document, we tried to determine the inditing date. In the dating phase, we studied the context of the document and took notice of the details that may give clue about the time of the incidence. In the advance stages of our study, the text was interpreted by supporting the other ritual texts. Finally we studied on political and religious character of the king.
