Prof. BORA YILDIZ

Prof. Dr. Bora Yıldız was born in 1984 in Sarıkamış, Kars. He began his primary and secondary education in Kars and completed it in Istanbul. He graduated from the Armed Forces Noncommissioned Officer Preparatory and Branch School Command in Ankara—originally founded in 1831 as Mızıka-i Hümayun (the Military Band School). He earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Anadolu University in 2007, his master’s degree in business administration from Beykent University in 2010, and his Ph.D. in business administration from Gebze Technical University in 2015.

Between 2002 and March 2016, he served as a naval petty officer in various units under the Turkish Naval Forces Command. On March 2, 2016, he voluntarily resigned from military service and transitioned into academia the following day, on March 3, 2016.

He began his academic career as an assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Economics on March 3, 2016. He was promoted to Associate Professor on July 17, 2018, and to Full Professor on September 26, 2024. As of January 15, 2025, he serves as the Head of the Department of Management and Organisation.

His research interests include organisational behaviour, human resource management, leadership, entrepreneurship, and management psychology. He has taught numerous undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral-level courses; supervised 21 master’s projects and 11 master’s theses; and currently advises 5 doctoral dissertations.

His scholarly work has received over 345 citations in the Web of Science (h-index: 11) and more than 2,300 citations in Google Scholar (h-index: 29). He serves as an associate editor at Frontiers in Psychology (SSCI-Q1) and ranks among the top 2% of scholars in business and management in Turkey, according to the 2026 AD Scientific Index (Click here for the current ranking.).

Professor Yıldız, with one registered and four under evaluation, holds a total of four patents. He has conducted TÜBİTAK-supported research projects and spent two years working as a visiting researcher at Brunel University London and as a postdoctoral researcher at Birkbeck College, University of London. He is a board member of the Academy of Management and the International Strategic Management and Managers Association. He is proficient in English and has intermediate proficiency in German.
