  • Özet:

The Scientiae research network is an internationally influential academic platform that brings together Renaissance and early modern studies with the history and philosophy of science.1 Focusing on the role of epistemological and methodological transformations between 1450 and 1800 in the formation of modern knowledge, Scientiae adopts an interdisciplinary approach that interprets early modern science not as a singular narrative of progress, but as an interplay of diverse intellectual traditions, practices, and material forms of knowledge. In this context, the annual Scientiae conferences held in various European cities have become important venues for debating the plural nature of early modern knowledge.

This intellectual trajectory of Scientiae gained a new dimension with the 12th annual conference held in Istanbul on 16–19 September 2025. Hosted by the Department of the History of Science within the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University, the conference created a platform for discussions that embraced not only early modern Europe but also the Ottoman world and Islamic scientific traditions, situating them within a broader global framework. In this respect, Scientiae 2025: Istanbul stands out as a significant meeting point that expanded the geographical and cultural boundaries of the history of early modern knowledge.
