Associate Professor Dr. Muharrem Hilmi Özev, a faculty member at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University's Faculty of Economics, conducts in-depth studies on conflict resolution, energy security, geopolitics, and the Gulf region. Dr. Özev graduated from Marmara University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations (English) and obtained his master's degree from Yıldız Technical University with a thesis titled "Ibn Rushd's Interpretation of Plato." He earned his PhD with a dissertation titled "Oil Capital and International Relations: The Case of Gulf Countries Post-1971."
At Istanbul University, Dr. Özev teaches courses on International Relations, Energy Security, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution, and has authored numerous works, including the book (Unveiling Political Conflicts: A Comprehensive Analysis" and "Gulf Countries in the Triangle of Nationalism, Religion, and Oil." He also co-edited the book titled "The UN and Its Conflict Resolution Role" with Aydın Erdoğan.
Proficient in English and Arabic, Dr. Özev has translated numerous philosophical and political works from Arabic into Turkish. Since 2007, he has played a role as a coordinator and organizer in various congresses and events related to the Middle East and Islamic countries. He closely monitors developments in Turkey and the Gulf countries and continues to contribute to national and international platforms through projects and publications on conflict resolution, energy security, and the Gulf region.
