Biography
İrem Sözen is a faculty member at Istanbul University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture. After completing her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Boğaziçi University, she completed her Master's degree in Architectural Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Following her PhD degree in Building Science at Istanbul Technical University, she has also attended the AA School of Architecture as a visiting scholar to work in the field of sustainable environmental design. She has been teaching courses on physical environmental control, sustainable design and building materials. She has several publications on energy efficiency in residential buildings, thermal comfort and microclimate in vernacular architecture. She continues her research on the relationship between architecture and the environment with a focus on climate change.
