The first purpose of constructing a DB (data base) is to effectively share digital data through computers with the public. Accordingly, how well the DB construction is completed should be evaluated by criteria of publicity and effectiveness of digital data sharing.
The personal narratives of Korean War that used to subsist as a written testimony and memoirs in an analogue form started to be accumulated and open to the public made in a digital data gradually since the second half of 1990s along with the advancement of computer technology and internet development. However, the existing DBs for personal narratives of Korean War only focus on interviews related with particular issues, and lack publicity and effectiveness of data sharing.
Based on this evaluation, the target of DB construction for personal narratives of Korean War collected by Konkuk University research team should be to lively transmit multi-layered experiences of Korean War experienced by a person in his/her way of life, and to be shared effectively by the public. To accomplish this target, the DB construction should go over the present level of classifying personal experiences by the region, and go through a parallel way of ‘basic information classification’ and ‘topical classification.’
