Proje Özeti

Despite the acknowledged benefits of higher education and documented aspirations among the asylum seekers and refugees, their access and participation to higher education are seriously low both in neighboring first asylum and distant resettlement countries. Turkey is the biggest refugee hosting country since 2015 and the country is faced with enormous challenges –including education provisions- emerging from the inflow of millions of people in a relatively short period.  Within this background, WESREF-IU project research aims to highlight the outstanding nature of access to higher education in face of protracted crisis situation in Turkey’s higher education system, policies and practices in terms of responding to Syrian refugees’ educational needs.
