EcoHack 24: Design for Green Future (Next to Green Design Camp) is an innovative and interactive educational initiative aimed at raising awareness of composting, sustainability, waste management and climate change among students and educators in Türkiye. Despite the increasing urgency of environmental issues, composting awareness remains low, with only 10% of the population actively engaged in TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL REPORT FOLLOWING GRANT FROM THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN TÜRKIYE IN 2025 2 composting practices. This project seeks to bridge this gap by organizing three age-specific design and idea hackathons, where students will translate their knowledge into compelling visual materials to promote sustainable waste management. Before the hackathons, participants will undergo an intensive two-month online and face-to face training program led by experts in climate science, composting, agriculture, communication and design. The final outputs will be showcased through exhibitions, a social media awareness campaign, and a design competition to maximize impact and engagement. The project engaged key stakeholders—including municipalities, schools, NGOs, and recycling companies—to ensure long-term sustainability. By integrating digital accessibility, hands-on learning, and community-driven awareness strategies, EcoHack 24 aspires to inspire a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens and establish composting as a widely adopted practice in Türkiye.
