TUBITAK Project, 2021 - 2023
Within the scope of the project initiated with 1512 BİGG, the research and development efforts aim to utilize discarded fishing species, particularly in the biomedical field, and accelerate the healing of chronic wounds through the use of wound dressings supported by biomaterials. At the end of the study, the following objectives have been outlined: Completion of research on the establishment of a green technology production line for collagen type 1 raw material derived from discarded marine organisms at the laboratory scale. Development of a prototype collagen sponge with enhanced antimicrobial properties by combining collagen bioactive material obtained from discarded marine organisms with boric acid and borax. Production of a nanofiber wound dressing using collagen extracted from discarded marine organisms through the electroblow technique. Testing of the liquid nitrogen solution cold drying technique as an alternative to the lyophilization technique, the final stage in collagen extraction.
