Vanadium (atomic number 23), has one predominat stable isotope 51V with nuclear spin of I = 7/2 [1]. Its atomic spectra is characterized by hyperfine structure due to large nuclear magnetic dipole moment mI (51V) = 5.1574 mN [2], whereas electric quadrupole interaction is very small due to small nuclear quadrupole moment.
High-resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy was applied to measure magnetic dipole hyperfine structure constants A for high-lying multiplets of odd parity. The spectra of 51V were recorded using by Bruker IFS 125HR FT spectrometer and a hollow cathode discharge lamp. To analyse experimental data, hyperfine patterns were fitted using the FITTER program [3]. The A values of lower levels, well-known from literature [4,5,6], were fixed during the fit.
For the first time, A values for all the nine high-lying energy levels [7] belonging to the 6S, 4G, 2F and 2I multiplets of the configuration 3d34s4p are determined.
