Ahmet Hamdi Emgen (1902-1973; Abschluss in Hochschule für Pharmazie Istanbul), erwarb die Mondiana-Apotheke [Besitzer: Apotheker Konstantin Sava Mondiana (oder Mandika)] in Sehremini (Istanbul) und leitete sie unter dem Namen "Merkez Eczanesi" (Zentralapotheke). 1932 zog er mit der Apotheke nach Aksaray (Istanbul) um. Da er Deutsch und Französisch konnte, bildete er sich durch Reisen in europäische Länder und Veröffentlichungen weiter. Seine Tochter İhsan Emgen (Gezgin) schloss 1946-1947 das Studium der Pharmazie an der Istanbul Universität ab und arbeitete bis 1954 mit ihrem Vater zusammen. Nach einer Unterbrechung ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit übernahm sie nach dem Tod von Ahmet Hamdi Emgen im Jahr 1973 die Leitung der Apotheke und schloss sie am Ende von 1980 aus gesundheitlichen Gründen. Die Möbel, Medikamente und andere Materialien dieser Apotheke wurden von ihr durch Prof. Dr. Ekrem Sezik gespendet, um an der Fakultät für Pharmazie der Hacettepe Universität ausgestellt zu werden. Die Tochter von İhsan Emgen (Gezgin), Fatma Şebnem Gezgin, schenkte dem Spezialmuseum für türkische Pharmaziegeschichte der Universität Istanbul die Dokumente aus ihrem Leben sowie weitere Gegenstände aus der Apotheke.
Obwohl es in den nationalen Veröffentlichungen einige Details über die Geschichte der Apotheke und über das Rezeptbuch gibt, besteht im Hinblick auf die Geschichte der Apotheke noch weiterer Forschungsbedarf über die Apotheke und ihre Besitzer. Das Ziel dieses Vortrag ist es, die Informationen darüber zu erweitern und zu vervollständigen, indem die Inhaber dieser Apotheke, die auf eine Geschichte von fast einem Jahrhundert zurückblicken kann, sowie ihr Leben und ihre Beiträge zum Berufsstand im Detail betrachtet werden.
Ahmet Hamdi Emgen (1902-1973, graduated in Istanbul School of Pharmacy) purchased the Mondiana Pharmacy [owner: Pharmacist Konstantin Sava Mondiana ( or Mandika)] in Sehremini (Istanbul), and operated it under the name "Merkez Eczanesi" (Central Pharmacy). In 1932, he moved the pharmacy to Aksaray (Istanbul). Since he was proficient in German and French, he improved himself with current developments by travelling to European countries and following publications. His daughter, Pharm. İhsan Emgen (Gezgin) graduated in 1946-1947 from Istanbul University School of Pharmacy and worked with his father until 1954. After taking a break from the profession, she took over the management of the pharmacy upon the death of Ahmet Hamdi Emgen in 1973. She closed the pharmacy at the end of 1980 due to health reasons. The furniture, medicines and other materials of this pharmacy were donated by her through Prof. Dr. Ekrem Sezik to be exhibited at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy. Pharm. ihsan Emgen (Gezgin)'s daughter Fatma Şebnem Gezgin donated the documents related to their lives as well as other pharmacy items to the Istanbul University Specialised Museum of Turkish Pharmacy History.
Although there are some details about the history of the pharmacy and about the prescription book in the national publications, there is still a need for further research into the history of the pharmacy and its owners. The aim of this study is to expand and complete the information about it by looking in detail at the owners of this pharmacy, which can look back on a history of almost a century, as well as their lives and contributions to the profession.
