Textlinguistics is a linguistic-discipline which came into being at the beginning of the 1960s. Textlinguistic studies began in Turkey at the end of the 1970s. The theories and methods of textlinguistics are used in language teaching, translation, the analysis and comparison of different text types such as literary, scientific, journalistic texts etc. The aim of this study is to describe the appearance and development of textlinguistics and its applications in Turkey as compared to Germany. The results of this research show that the development of textlinguistics in Turkey is similar to developments in Europe, especially in Germany. The most important result of this study is the fact that the number of researches in textlinguistics in Turkey has been rapidly increasing in the last years, especially after 2000.
