This introduction focuses on some crucial issues in the relationship between disability and literary and cultural forms in light of the critical literature on the subject, highlighting the osmotic relationship between literary and linguistics expressions of impairment, which are a reflection of a terminology often perceived as inadequate, and the culture of contemporary Italy. Furthermore, essays from a collection dedicated to the theme in its various declinations are presented. They delve into the discussion on characters with disabilities in literary, comics, and theatrical works as well as real people at different times. Finally, the introductory discourse is integrated with an unpublished interview with writer Sergio Rilletti.
