While in The Moonstone the natural environment and elements of nature basically reinforce the theme on the symbolic and metaphorical level, in The Hound of tlıe Baskervilles, the use and depiction of the landscape and nature is more explicitly in the foreground, and directly and more emphatically contributes to the dramatic tension and narrative tone. Yet, though the writers' use of these elements differs in extent and focality, both in The Moonstone and in the Hound of the Baskervilles the landscape and nature are used by the authors as significant and suggestive narrative elements.
