The wetlands are the most significant ecosystems of the earth in respect of their natural function and economically benefits. The Gökçeada Salt Lake has not been sufficiently protected because of the nearest settlement area and the increased tourism pressure especially in summer months and actual reasons for the shifts have not been explained scientifically. Primary informations about the sensitive species especially such as flamingos will be achieved. The chemical (as heavy metals and pesticides) and biological investigation of the Lake sediment is very important for the public health because it has been presented as therapeutic mud. By this study, phsico-chemical characteristics and the biodiversity of Gökçeada Salt Lake, the creeks feeding the lake, the neighbouring sea and the diversity of the terrestrial lake area of 32,34 km2 will be investigated during the winter. Achieved data will be used in the action plan for the sustainable usage of the wetland.
