Abstract

In this paper, the larvae of some bony fish in the pelagic zone in the Northern Levantine Sea and their abundance were determined. A larval survey (TUNALEV) in the Northern Levantine Basin (Cilician Basin) was conducted onboard a trawler from 5 to 18 June 2004. To determine the spatial distribution and abundance of fish larvae, Bongo 60 and Bongo 90 nets were used. Ichtyoplankton samples from 104 stations were taken. During the survey, 7654 fish larvae belonging to 13 taxa, 37 families were captured. A total of 53 taxonomic groups were identified, 36 to the species level, the rest to genera and families
