The present article is devoted to the study of "mythopoetic images of the „bogatyr“ in a broad historical and cultural discourse, based on the actual texts of Russian epical tales, the South Slavic and Turkish epics. The analysis of Russian historical narratives about selected knights (such as Ilya Muromtsa, Dobrynya Nikitich's cycle), works of the Turkish epics „Kitab-i Dedem Korkut“ (The Book of My Grandfather Korkut), „Аlpamish“, „Battal Gazi Destani“ (The Epic of Battal Gazi) and South Slavic epic works about Mark Kralevich, is carried out within the framework of C.
