A case of vagal paraganglioma in a 49 year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital with a large, painless, neck mass is reported. Diagnosis was based on angiography. After successful preoperative tumor embolization, complete removal of tumor was accomplished without sacrifice of carotid arteries and vagal nerve. Temporary swallowing difficulty was resolved in three weeks. This case is of particular interest because of the rarity of vagal paraganglioma in the literature.
