Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berkay Dinçer, head of the West Afyonkarahisar Palaeolithic Survey, participated in the symposium titled ‘Eastern Mediterranean Contact Area in the Early Prehistory’ held at the University of Belgrade in Serbia on 6-7 December 2024 and made a presentation titled ‘The Middle Palaeolithic in West Anatolia: Passages and Borders’. The presentation covered the surveys carried out in Western Anatolia, especially the Palaeolithic Survey of West Afyonkarahisar and the excavations at Sinekkaya Cave.

The symposium was attended by scientists from Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Israel, Italy, Canada, Montenegro, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Turkey.
