The 2025 seasonal fieldwork results of the Sinekkaya Cave Excavations were shared with the scientific community at the 46th International Symposium on Excavations, Surveys and Archaeology, organized in collaboration with the T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University in Erzincan between June 8–12, 2026. The symposium was attended by the head of excavation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berkay Dinçer, and the deputy head of excavation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Şahin.
In this symposium, which has been held uninterruptedly since 1979 and stands as Turkey's most deep-rooted scientific organization in the field of archaeology, a total of 425 scientific studies were presented this year by 384 scientists from 11 different countries. At this international symposium, where the archaeological data of 2025 across Turkey were comprehensively evaluated at an academic level for the first time, the findings regarding Sinekkaya Cave were also presented to the attention of the relevant experts. The scientific reports delivered during the symposium sessions hold great importance for chronologically clarifying the prehistory of the region and contributing to the literature.
The 2025 studies of Sinekkaya Cave, conducted by the research group under the leadership of Istanbul University and Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, were carried out with the institutional support and cooperation of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, the Bursa Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Bursa Archaeology Museum Directorate, the Orhaneli District Gendarmerie Command, and the Municipality of Orhaneli.
