Within the scope of the 2026 excavation works carried out at the prehistoric Sinekkaya Cave, located in the Orhaneli district of Bursa, we are seeking volunteer team members to join our excavation crew.
Application and Participation Requirements
In line with the scientific and physical requirements of the project, the qualifications required for candidates are as follows:
Educational Background: Only undergraduate students currently enrolled in University programs for Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related fields, who have a keen interest in Paleolithic Era research, will be accepted.
Physical Fitness: It is crucial for volunteers to have the physical capacity to walk on rugged terrain and actively support daily equipment transportation processes.
Duration of Participation: Volunteers are expected to participate continuously for at least 6 days (one week).
Working Conditions and Schedule
Work Routine: Field activities are carried out between Monday and Saturday, from 09:00 to 18:00. There are two 15-minute breaks at 10:30 and 15:00, and a 60-minute lunch break at 12:30.
Teamwork and Social Order: In this project where team spirit is highly prioritized, all routine camp chores and the preparation of all meals (except dinner) are carried out collectively with the participation of all team members.
Key Learnings & Gains: Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge on archaeological excavation methods, as well as the analysis of chipped stone and osteological remains, and documentation techniques.
Important Safety Rules
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the excavation site being located in a forested area and the associated fire risks, the use of tobacco and cigarette products within the terrain boundaries is strictly prohibited. This rule applies between 09:00 and 18:00, including all work and break hours. Submitting an application implies that candidates fully accept this condition in advance.

The admission of volunteers will be decided based on a meticulous evaluation of the information provided in the application forms and academic field compatibility.
