Dr. Sultan Gülşen's academic career is distinguished by her interdisciplinary and comparative approach to religious education studies. Currently a Research Assistant at Istanbul University's Faculty of Theology, she has over a decade of experience in the field, a position she has held since 2012.

Her scholarly journey began with a B.A. in German Language and Literature (Marmara University, 2008), which provided a strong foundation for her later comparative studies. She pursued her graduate studies at Istanbul University, earning an M.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies in 2014. Her master's thesis, titled “A comparative analysis of 4th grade religion textbooks in Turkey and Germany,” marked her initial foray into cross-cultural educational analysis.

Building on this foundation, she enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Religious Education at Marmara University. During her doctoral studies, she significantly enhanced her international perspective by serving as a visiting researcher at the University of Osnabrück in Germany for 18 months (2018-2019). Her doctoral research culminated in her 2023 dissertation, “'Narrative' in Religious Education,” which explores the role of narrative and storytelling in educational frameworks. Her work continues to focus on religious education, particularly in the areas of contemporary pedagogical approaches, philosophy of education, and comparative research.
