This course will explore contemporary writers’ responses to climate change and the human behavior that caused it. How have writers described and understood our shifting relations with changing ecologies? How have they noted—and called out—our alterations of nature? How does this writing continue but also innovate on older traditions of nature writing? We will answer these and other questions throughout the semester. We will also focus on such themes as political borders, damaged landscapes, and the value of nature. |
