Gravity Modeling of Siirt Kentalan Region in Turkey by Using Nomogram Method

Abstract

In this study we have used a practical method to obtain possible depths of 2D and 3D geological structures from their gravity anomalies. Rectangular prism and vertical cylinder were selected as geometrical models for this study. Synthetic gravity anomalies have been calculated for selected models related to their depth and dimensions. Model parameters have also been obtained by using critical point values (gmax, x1/2, x3/4) of the calculated gravity anomalies. The model parameters were plotted as a ratio of structure upper face and bottom face depths. In this connection, possible structure depths and dimensions could be calculated from field gravity anomalies by using nomograms. The study area is Siirt Kentalan region in Turkey.
