Holding on the Foundations behind the Universal: An approach to literary theory in the path of the “Aesthetics of Genius“
This study is aiming to discuss the situation in the literature and literary theories after the modernist categorization methods of the knowledge, in which has the Kantian critic a special role. The problem is here how we should define today the literature and literary theories. In his third critic, in Critique of Judgement (1790), Kant says that the nature of an art product is only hidden in the nature of subject, and this becomes the mean in Kant’s terminology, in the nature of an ingenium. In this context, Terry Eagleton points out in his most popular work Literary Theory (1983) that we tend to present often the meaning, which belongs to a particular period as a general definition of the literature. In addition to this background, this study tries to answer the question if it is possible, or not, to define the literature as an autonomous space after the Kantian aesthetics of genius.
