This study focuses on a political economy-based analysis of the industrial policies implemented
in the Turkish economy after 2001. Discussions on 'new industrial' policies provide the
foundation for the analysis. The study aims to explore what types of industrial policy trends
may emerge in the future. For Turkey, trade with the EU (Customs Union) and recent changes
in foreign relations with the South remain decisive for future orientations. The transition to a
green economy, updating the Customs Union with the EU, and new forms of integration into
global value chains are important topics shaping the future for Turkish industrialists. We aim
to discuss which sectoral dynamics and actors are the main drivers of industrial policies.
Quantitative data will be considered. The study will reveal Turkey's structural change dynamics
from the 2000s, employment conditions, and forms of integration with global value chains. It
will rely on global value chains data, world input-output tables, sectoral value-added and
employment data, and foreign trade data.
