Bu çalışmanın amacı, 18. yüzyıl İtalyan düşünürü Giambattista Vico'nun tarih düşüncesini onun Yeni Bilim'ı için yaptığı betimleme ile ilişkili olarak anlamaktır. Vico'nun Yeni Bilim'de sunduğu yöntem anlayışının ilk adımı olan eski insanların zihinsel yapılarını inceleme düşüncesiyle bağlantılı olarak, insanın tarihteki rolü, akıl ve inayetin tarihsel süreçteki birlikteliği, ilerleme, gerileme ve tarihsel gelişme ile Vico'nun kültürel-tarihsel alana yönelen bilimi için sunduğu metodun özelliklerini açıklamak çalışmanın bir diğer amacıdır.
The purpose of this paper is to understand Giambattista Vico's -one of the Italian major thinker in 18th century- idea of history regarding to his description of New Science. To investigate the ancient people's mind takes place on the top of the Vico's idea of method in his New Science. In connection with this idea, to explain the role of human in history, the association of mind and providence in historical process, corso, ricorso and historical development and properties for his method of his science which goes towards the cultural-historical area is also some another aim of this paper.
