Abstract

The genus Ferulago comprised more than 50 species distributed in Southwest Asia, Caucasia, Europe, and Northern Africa. In this study, morphological and molecular evidence shows Ferulago to be clearly polyphyletic, and the genus must be divided into four smaller genera, each closely related to different taxa of the Cachrys clade. According to molecular phylogenetic analysis and morphological data the genus Ferulago includes the only species F. thyrsiflora, whereas 52 taxa previously united in F. subgen. Galbanifera and F. sect. Anisotaenia form three separated genera.
