In most folk narratives, we encounter emotionally charged distinctive voices. This study focuses on the processes of experiencing the unique voices of the saints in hagiographies, which hold a special place in folk narratives and are considered sacred in the contexts of their creation and narration. By addressing the phenomenon of sound in these sacred texts, specifically in hagiographies, the aim is to determine the perception and functions of sound in the religious and mystical realm. To achieve this, a limited number of menakıpname produced in various Sufi circles have been sampled. Within this article, two forms of voice are examined: ventriloquial voice and acousmatic voice. It is understood that the ventriloquial voices found in the hagiographies often point to a God who speaks from within the saint, endowing them with divine power. Acousmatic voices, on the other hand, reflect the ability of the saints to communicate with non-physical beings; especially through experiences of hearing the voices of God and the prophet, as well as the voices of holy figures who have passed away like great saints. This endows the saints with a privileged position among their believers. Particularly within certain religious groups, individuals who hear/read these hagiographies can transform into devoted followers who unquestioningly obey the saint believed to be conversing with God. Through these hagiographies, which align the words of the saint with divine words, and in some cases even elevate them above divine words, any objections to the saint's voice/statements are initially eliminated. All these processes are revealed through the content of the menakıpnames, and it is the power of sound that enables this effect. In this article solely focuses on ventriloquial and acousmatic voices present in the hagiographies, and it was concluded that the voice has profound and powerful meanings in this hagiographies.
