The scope of this study is 1) to understand further the historical tsunamis which affected the study area using paleotsunami trenches and mechanic cores, 2) to provide clues to the question which of the earthquakes in the Rhodes Pass are tsunamigenic, and 3) to provide new data inputs to the next important aspects such as modelling or characterization of the tsunamigenic sources which make the main tasks for tsunami hunting in the Eastern Mediterranean. Yet there have been relatively few studies of the processes associated with tsunami sediment transport, their deposition and nature.
