Abstract

We will talk about the deflection of light rays from a compact object in both of theories, namely  in Brans-Dicke theory  with   a cosmological constant (BDɅ) and Brans Dicke theory with an arbitrary potential (BDV) in the linearized order. We will consider the weak field solutions  for a massive point particle for both theories in the linear approximation. Then  geodesics of these solutions will be presented in Schwarzshild  coordinates. Using the geodesic equations, particle motion of test particles will be investigated with the focus on the deflection of light rays.  We will also discuss the effects of the point mass and the presence of the cosmological term on the motions of test particles and photons. Finally we will compare the obtained solutions with the results of General Relativity.
