Paradigms in global production and supply chains have shifted with
economic crises, the Covid-19 pandemic, and fluctuations in demand and supply. These
changes have led to a better understanding of the role of logistics and a shift
in the dynamics of the logistics sector. The aim of this study was to develop
the Türkiye Logistics Confidence Index (LCI) as an indicator of economic
contractions and expansions in the logistics sector in order to manage this
transformation.
The research, launched in the last quarter of 2019, collected the
opinions of logistics sector experts over 22 periods. The LCI was produced
using data collected using the balance method. The LCI is the first indicator
to provide public administrators, companies, and investors with a better
understanding of the current state of the Turkish logistics sector and to more
accurately predict its future. According to the results of the correlation
analysis and trend analysis, the LCI value was found to be significantly
correlated with the Real Sector Confidence Index (RSCI).
The study reveals that confidence indices are sensitive indicators of
the economy and reflect current trends. This study presents a numerical
indicator that showing the current state and expectations of Türkiye's logistics
sector.
