Aydınlanma ve Modernizm’in
amacıyla Metamodernizm’i önerir.
“salınım” hareketiyle özetledikleri Metamodernizm’i Postmodernizm sonrası
En İyi Film dâhil olmak üzere 7 dalda Oscar kazanan Everything Everywhere at All Once (Yön:
kabul görmesi de onu incelenmeye değer kılmıştır. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada;
Metamodernizm’in hangi koşullarda uygulanıp nasıl görünür olduğu saptanmaya
çalışılmıştır.

On the Edge of Metamodern Cinema: An
Analysis on Everything Everywhere at All
Once
It
is inevitable that the developing technology in the current period will
transform the cultural products, production and consumption practices and the
way these products are perceived. With the process of Enlightenment and
Modernism starting to dissolve by Postmodernism; The terms Post Postmodernism
and New Postmodernism have emerged. The idea that postmodernism should evolve
into a new sensitivity, emotional structure, or, in Jameson's words, a new
"cultural logic" has sprouted. At this point, cultural theorists
Timotheus Vermeulen and Robin van den Akker propose Metamodernism in order to
draw the framework of this new cultural logic, create a vocabulary that can
describe it, and embody the new cultural theory of the new era. They define
Metamodernism, which they summarize with an "oscillation" movement
between Modernism and Postmodernism, which includes both, but beyond and
transcendentally, as the cultural logic and sensitivity experienced after
Postmodernism. Metamodernism, which tries to describe its retrospective
attitude with "postirony" and "pastiche" instead of irony,
its affective practice with "new sincerity" and its formal features
with “quirky”, has also been seen in cinema after serials and other
audio-visual materials. The film Everything
Everywhere at All Once (Dir: Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert), which won 7
Oscars, including Best Picture, has been the most up-to-date and widespread
example of this new cultural logic. In the current conditions in which cinema
itself has transformed as a phenomenon, the acceptance of a Metamodern
application as form and content has made it worth examining. Therefore, in this
study; Metamodern sensitivities and features, as well as the formal and content
features of the film that make it Metamodernist, have been examined and it has
been tried to determine under which conditions the cultural logic of the new
period, Metamodernism, is applied and how it appears.
