Abstract

The value of the radon gas concentration inhaled in closed environments is important for human health. If the value is high, the risk of getting lung cancer increases. Therefore, it is vital to measure the radon concentration in living spaces. In this study, a system that measures the concentration of radon gas in indoor environments has been designed and produced. This system is divided into two parts. The first of these is the track etching unit for the measurement CR-39 (Columbia Resin-39) detectors. This unit reveals previously invisible alpha particle tracks on the detector. Following this, the detector, which is now ready to be read, is transferred to the second unit, the reader unit, where it is read and reports are generated. Necessary tests and calibrations of the produced system have been carried out.
