In this study, nonlinear time history analyses of a four-story seismically isolated building are performed under the effect of historical near-fault earthquake records and their artificially produced pulse counterparts. Comparing the structural responses obtained, the effectiveness of pulse models in predicting the seismic behavior of isolated buildings exhibiting lead core heating under the effect of near-fault earthquakes is examined. Figure A illustrates the methodology of the study.
