Linguistic competence is a crucial dimension of the German teacher
training process, mainly because this dimension is considered to be the
basis of a language system. This circumstance has its reflection on the
curriculum for German language teacher training programs in Turkey
where linguistics has a significant role as a subject. In this context, how
linguistics course can be handled effectively becomes a major concern.
The concept of cooperative learning has its fruitful effects especially when
it is based on heterogeneous students. Thus, a model is presented in this
study, where the main aim is to implement cooperative teaching method,
based on the results of an empirical study.
