Abstract

We study the structure of the C*-algebra C*(A) generated by a system A of unilateral weighted shifts when the operator algebra generated by A is the polydisc algebra. With help of the obtained results, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for the Toeplitz operators with continuous symbols to be Fredholm.
