Abstract
This paper discusses the design, fabrication, and experimental validation of a low-cost, printed Yagi-Uda antenna optimized for long-range telemetry in the 902-928 MHz ISM band. Using full-wave electromagnetic simulation, the element lengths and spacing were optimized to achieve a simulated peak gain of 8.65 dBi and an 11 % fractional bandwidth covering 875-959 MHz, with return loss better than -10 dB across the entire band. The antenna was constructed on standard FR-4 material via conventional PCB etching, resulting in a compact design suitable for integration into embedded wireless communication systems. Field trials conducted in a rural environment confirmed reliable bi-directional data reception over a distance of 2 km, demonstrating front-to-back ratios exceeding 20 dB at 900 MHz and stable performance under real-world conditions. These results establish the proposed printed Yagi-Uda antenna as an effective, easy-to-fabricate solution for sub-GHz long-range telemetry in low-power communication platforms and remote sensing applications.
