Following traumatic injuries of the teeth and the periradiecular tissues, normal function may be regained and heating may occur, if the displaced tooth is stabilized by splint application. Splinting is one of the crucial factors in the treatment of traumatized teeth and periodontal tissues. In this review, various splint types and splinting techniques are explained. Moreover, splinting periods used used in different traumatic injuries and the effect of this procedure on tissues are discussed.
