Temporomandibular disorders can be defined as clinical conditions that include discomfort in the temporomandibular joint, masticatory muscles, and related structures. Symptoms such as pain or tenderness in the joints and chewing muscles, limited opening and closing functions of the mouth, and popping sounds in the joints may be present in patients with temporomandibular disorders. An interdisciplinary approach should be taken when treating these disorders, whichmay have complex and multifactorial etiological causes. Depending on the factors that vary from patient to patient, one of or a combination of the following treatment methods can be used: educating the patient, dental treatments, corresponding physical treatments, psychological treatments, pharmacological treatments, and surgical treatments. Non-invasive treatment methods should be prioritized in dealing with such cases. One of the treatment methods being used and is non-invasive when treating temporomandibular disorders is Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT). that has a cause-oriented approach and can be utilized when treating all musculoskeletal disorders that cause pain, limitation, and loss of function. Treatment is carried out using various manual techniques (that are applied via hands). In this review, the use of OMT methods, and their applications when treating temporomandibular disorders are evaluated based on the data in the literature.
