STUDIEN ZUR DEUTSCHEN SPRACHE UND LITERATUR-ALMAN DILI VE EDEBIYATI DERGISI, no.20, pp.153-168, 2008 (ESCI)
The academic discourse has been studied quite well from the intercultural point of view. However, there are still only few studies about German and Turkish academic texts. The aim of this study is to explain a significant criterion of analysis for academic texts, the writer-representation in German and Turkish academic discourse. The explanation is based on a contrastive analysis of a German and Turkish research article of linguistics. The contrastive text analysis indicates that the academic texts do not only give new knowledge about any subject but also have different ways of representation of this knowledge. This study also builds the theoretical basis for the contribution of Basokur, Baykan und Polat (2008) in this periodical which analyzes and compares German and Turkish research articles from the field of translation.
