Özet

The first aim of this study was to assess the validity of the following hypothesis: ‘The translation technology related terms in the field of translation studies (TS) are used randomly and this leads to terminological inconsistency’. The second aim was to prepare a termlist of translation technologies whether or not the abovementioned hypothesis was found valid. In order to collect data, the method of document analysis was employed in the research. The corpus was collected using the method of criterion sampling from the database of Google Scholar. In the database scanning, selected terms related to translation technologies were written in the search box and the date range was set to 2014-2023. Translation technology-related terms were searched for in the collected studies. The detected terms were highlighted in yellow in order to make it easy to find them quickly and copied to the termlist. 471 terms were detected in 58 studies found in the corpus. The following data related to each term was also added to the list: the source where the term was detected, the appropriateness of the term, if not found appropriate the reason, the proposed term, the definition and the English equivalent. This study concludes that there is a quality issue in language use in the discipline. All members of TS should have the responsibility to be aware of this problem and take action in solving it. Keeping this in mind, in this study we generated a termlist which we think was a comprehensive one. We hope that this study will serve as a good reference and the abovementioned problem of linguistic quality will be eliminated in the translation technology related studies thanks to such terminological studies as this one and the conscious term uses by TS scholars.
