Abstract
Peripheral nerve repair is still one of the most challenging aspects of lower extremity reconstruction. The patients may have various sensory and motor deficits according to the mechanism of the injury, the level of the affected nerves, and the extent of the damage (Dahlin and Leblebicioglu Current treatment of nerve injuries and disorders. The diagnosis, the operative treatment, and the postoperative follow-up of the nerve injuries require a thorough knowledge of basic and clinical sciences. In this chapter, the main principles of primary nerve repair and nerve grafting are elaborated with special emphasis on anatomy, histology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, and semiology.
