Özet
This introductory article for the Special Issue on the Centre-Right in Turkey aims to discuss the necessity and importance of compiling a collection on the centre-right in Turkey. To this end, it will first briefly outline the history of the centre-right in Turkey and the political parties associated with this tradition, thereby demonstrating the central role it has played in Turkey's multi-party political life. Despite its significance, the centre-right has been academically neglected. Focusing on the Turkish centre-right, the articles in this special issue seek to examine its conceptual foundations; its relations with political movements to its right and left; particular elements of its foreign policy approach; its relationship with the legal system; party organisation; its reflections in everyday life practices; and the dynamics behind the decline of centre-right parties.
