Abstract

Sustainable manufacturing has gained importance due to recent regulations, stakeholder pressures, and the scarcity of natural resources. Therefore, manufacturing firms are increasingly expected to reduce environmental burdens while keeping their operations financially viable. Accordingly, companies need to define performance metrics—particularly at the production-line and plant levels—to improve manufacturing sustainability. This study aims to propose an industry-specific framework to evaluate sustainable manufacturing performance at the production level. The textile industry is especially critical in this context, as its production processes consume significant amounts of natural resources, energy, it contributes environmental pollution and social problems. Therefore, this study presents an Intuitionistic Fuzzy WENSLO (Weights by ENvelope and SLOpe) method to assess the significance level of sustainable manufacturing performance metrics in textile industry.
