Özet

Brassinosteroids (BRs) have recently been classified as new plant hormones. They can be found in all plant organs and it is known that BR promote plant growth, development and germination in different plants. In this study, the germination percantage was calculated of radish seeds (Raphanus sativus L.) which were germinated in different epibrassinolide (eBL) concentrations (10-5M, 10-7M, 10-9M, 10-11M). Root and hypocotyl lengths, fresh and dry weights and membrane differantiations were determined at 10 days old seedlings. Epibrassinolide (eBL) is preferred in this study because it is the active form of BR. It was shown that 10-7M and 10-9M eBL solutions have promotive effects on seed germination whereas 10-5M eBL have inhibitory effect . During the seedling growth, root elongation was stimulated by 10-9M eBL, inhibited by 10-5M eBL. There was no significant difference on hypocotyl length. When 10-9M eBL solution was heightened fresh weight of all organs; 10-11M eBL, 10-5M eBL ve 10-9M eBL were heightened dry weight of root, hypocotyl and cotyledon, respectively. It was thought that, the membrane permeability was protected by 10-9M eBL by the results. It is hoped that BR will lead to reduce food supply problems and promosing developments in agricultural sector. Key words: Epibrassinolide, Radish, Seed Germination, Seedling Growth
