Abstract

 

Wavelet analysis is applied to the geophysical data of the Cilicia Region where very complex tectonic
structure dominates. As a result, tectonic structure of the region is enlightened. the wavelet transform method is
applied to the gravity data in the vicinity of Cilicia region. Again, the results obtained from data are plausible with the
dominant topographical and geological features of the region. As a result of the wavelet transform method, the
orientation of EAFZ towards the Gulf of Iskenderun is more prominent with this data set. As a conclusion, promising
results are obtained from the application of wavelet transform method to the gravity data. The wavelet transform
method proves to be very convenient in determining tectonic structures. Furthermore, an integration of the findings
obtained from the above cited geophysical and geological data, a better tectonic model pertinent to the region can be
achieved.
