This study deals with an approach to the methodology of Ibn Qutayba (d. 276 AH/889 AD) in
his books (Gharīb al-Qur'an) and (Mushkil al-Qur'an) We begin by explaining the strangeness
of the Qur’an without interpreting its problem, as we have singled out a comprehensive and
sufficient book for the problem, praise be to God. And Ibn Qutayba in his two books had a
systematic approach in dealing with the scientific material, not only transferring and narrating,
but rather weighting the sayings, and clarifying the weak and the preferred ones with their
response. Quranic meanings outside the framework of the Holy Quran; He was familiar with
the weighting of meanings in linguistic dictionaries, and dictionaries of pre-Islamic poetry, in
addition to his approach between the meaning of the Qur’anic word and the corresponding
meanings of the word when it appeared in the noble hadith. The Holy Qur’an shows its
meanings in every place according to its contextual, figurative, syntactic or other linguistic
connotations, thus defining the conceptual network of the Qur’anic vocabulary on the pattern
of independent lexical studies. To find a holistic view of the Qur’anic meanings in a single issue
or an independent issue, in addition to his knowledge of understanding the meanings of the
exchange and alternation of letters and their impact on the meanings of the linguistic systems
in the noble verses. In this research, we will try to show a different matter for the traditions of
writing in this field, as Ibn Qutayba did not have a single methodology in dealing with linguistic
investigations in his two books (Gharīb al-Qur'an) and (Mushkil al-Qur'an), but rather singled
out an analytical and semantic approach for each book separately. He has two different
methodologies in dealing with the interpretation and interpretation of vocabulary, and each
methodology is appropriate to the type of field he is researching, and is consistent with the
nature of the knowledge fields of the science of the meanings of the Noble Qur’an; Whether it
is in the stranger or the problem, Ibn Qutayba has dealt with these methodologies and applied
them in his two books with the utmost accuracy and literalism. We will try to highlight two
different scientific methodologies of Imam Ibn Qutayba (d. 276 AH / 889 AD). In this study,
we will refer to the uniqueness of Ibn Qutayba with two different methodologies from each
other in some aspects. Each of them was followed in a separate book in both his books (Mushkil
al-Qur'an), and its interpretation (Gharīb al-Qur'an).
